Thai films guide

It may not be as popular as the Hollywood blockbusters, but the Thai film industry produces some truly vibrant and impressive stories with a great narrative style and well organized structure.

Thai movies cover a variety of genres from emotions to comedy and love stories. Though at times the heroines’ cries become unrealistic, over the years, the thai film industry has matured into producing better films!

So if you want to try out some of the thai flicks, here is a list of 3 movies which, according to me, belong to different genres and are worth a watch.

Sia Dai: this film gives and insight to the lives of four young girls left by their parents. How they face life’s hardships and resort to the black marklet of prostitution, form the crux of this pseudo documentary style film.

Kun Pan: it’s a love triangle between a psychopathic maniac and a liar and a Thai warrior with mystic powers. Seduction and infidelity loom large in this film where the love genre is mixed with war and betrayal.

Shutter : this one is for all those who are daring enough to see a horror flick. It’s a story of strange things that start occurring with a couple after they hit someone on a particular night. How they go about resolving the mystery forms the gist of the film. Though the film is quite predictable, it has an eerie, creepy feeling to it which makes the film enjoyable.
