Laos conceded six goals to Thailand at Surakul stadium
Posted in General,Guide,News,Sports December 10, 2008Thailand’s makeshift side deafeated Laos with 6-0 at Surakul stadium last night making its claim over a semi-final berth stringer at the AFF Suzuki Cup.
Arthit Sunthornphit and Anon Sangsanoi scored two goals apiece. Ronnachai Rangsiyo, who opened the scoring after 19 minutes, and Patiparn Phetphun were also on target as Thailand took a 3-0 lead at half-time.
The two semi-final spots will be determined in tomorrow’s final group games with Thailand facing Malaysia and Vietnam entertaining eliminated Laos. Classification will be first decided by goal difference.
It was earlier announced that Thailand v Malaysia match would be moved to Bangkok’s Supachalasai stadium. But both games will now remain in Phuket as the Malaysians refused to travel to Bangkok.
“With the win, I think we have already been through to the semi-finals,” Thailand coach Peter Reid said. “I’m pleased with my players. We changed nearly the whole team and this shows our strength in depth.”
Laos coach Saysana Savatdy said it was not a shame to concede six goals to a strong team like Thailand.
