Pattaya – The City of Nightlife
Pattaya, the popular resort located nearly 150 km away from the Bangkok in south-east direction on the North Gulf Coast of Eastern Thailand, is one of the favorite tourist destinations of Thailand, which annually caters to 5 million tourists. It is well recognized for go-go and beer bars and is Thailand’s best location for sport activities.
As for the administrative ease, Pattaya is divided into northern Pattaya, including Naklua Beach, Pattaya Beach, Buddha Hill headland and southern section that include areas of Jomtien Beach consisting Dongtan Beach.
Pattaya, a small fishing village, was discovered by the residents of the Bangkok in the 1960. Soon after the discovery of Pattaya, it became center of recreation and comfort for the servicemen from Southeast Asia and American Air Force base at U-Tapao. After, departure of Americans, when Vietnam War ended, the tourism Industry of the Pattaya went into recession, but soon after it recovered and got its status.
Most of the population of the Pattaya is migrants from the neighboring places which come to the place for occupation in tourism related and other industries. The basic climate of Pattaya is tropical wet and dry. The best period of the year to travel Pattaya is around Christmas and New Year.
Pattaya beach in metropolitan area spread across alongside the city centre is close to shopping, hotels and bars is comparatively more suited for club life. Whereas Jomtien Beach segregated from the main part of Pattaya by Pratumnak Hill, is far suited for family vacationers and water sport lovers.
Apart from the number of recreational activities at Beaches, Pattaya is rather famous for a number of golf courses in Pattaya as there are nearly 21 golf courses within 1 hour journey of Pattaya. The place is filled with zoos and different theme parks like Mini Siam and Elephant Village. The place offshore is full of wonderful coral and submarine life. 500 acre Nong Nooch Tropical Botanical Garden is must visit site for everyone.
In recent time, Pattaya has also become one of the best places in Thailand for shopping as well. There many shopping malls, outlet stores and jewelry places have been quite opened up all around the city. Carrefour, Pattaya Central Road, Tesco Lotus, Pattaya North Road is exciting place for shopping.
